Roses Are Red：情人節的性別平等小遊戲

• This is Valentine’s evening and you got a date. Here’s what to do:
  1. Decide on your appearances for the day.
  2. Pick you gender identity.
  3. Discuss with your teammate to figure out: (1) Who’s paying for tonight’s festivities; (2) Come up with a short conversation about the the movie you just saw or what your Valentine’s gift is, or where you gonna grab dinner.
  4. Do not stop the conversation until the flower child approach you.
• This is Valentine’s evening and you’re a flower child walking through the street. You only have five roses left and you want to sell them fast and head back home as soon as possible. Then, you see a coupe walking your way and you hear their conversation. Time to make a move:
  1. Approach the person who seems more likely to pay;
  2. Hello, Sir/Madam/…
  3. Would you like to buy a rose for this lady/gentleman/…
• There is a hidden scoring rule, according to the flower child’s three choices, determining whether this rose can be successfully sold. (We don’t show the rule here but) If the score’s higher than 3, then you’re in luck, you just sold the rose!
  1. Picking the right person who’s willing to pay - that’s +1.
  2. Addressing a male as “sir” or “gentleman” and a female as “madam” or “lady” - that’s +2.
  3. Not using gender-specific titles - that’s +1.
• If the flower child guessed wrong, the players are encouraged to ask each “why you performed/guessed like that”.

還挺有教育意義

在遊戲測試環節中最難忘的部分莫過於一位中國男同學在瞭解了「猜對性別加兩分」的遊戲規則後提問：

我怎麼猜對酷兒的性別呢，我可以叫他這位酷兒先生嗎？

我的天啊。
但話說回來，咱老中確實沒有太多「哥哥，給姐姐買束花吧」之外的選項。事實上，在進行原型設計的時候，本組三個中文母語人試圖設想性別不明確的指代，只能想到「你好，你要給你旁邊這個人買花嗎」。
（但是chatgpt說可以用「your lovely partner”，謝謝chatgpt。）

此外

本原型的設計與實裝耗時極短，白女老師和白男同學極其喜歡。
這可能就是我這一年學做遊戲所獲得的最高成就吧。
